1. Who we are

Quantum Meditation Society USA (“QMS USA,” “we,” “us”) is a nonprofit organization that promotes meditation and mindfulness. This policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information when you visit quantummeditationsociety.org (the “Site”), donate, register for programs or events, or otherwise communicate with us.

By using the Site you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact details: name, email address, phone number, mailing address.
  • Donation details: amount, fund, frequency, tribute or dedication information, and whether you wish to give anonymously.
  • Program and event details: registrations, attendance, language preference and any information you choose to share on a form.
  • Account details, if you create one: login credentials and profile information.
  • Messages you send us by email, contact form, WhatsApp or social media.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring site and time spent on the Site.
  • Cookies and similar technologies (see Section 5).

Information from others

  • Payment processors confirm whether a transaction succeeded; we do not receive or store full card or bank account numbers.
  • Video, meeting or messaging platforms may share attendance or participation records for programs you join.

3. How we use information

  • Process donations and send tax receipts and annual giving statements.
  • Register you for programs and events and send related reminders and links.
  • Send newsletters and updates you have opted in to; you can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Respond to your questions and requests.
  • Maintain our records, keep accurate donor and member lists, and prevent duplicate or fraudulent activity.
  • Improve the Site and our programs.
  • Meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

4. Donations and payments

Online donations and ticket payments are processed by third-party payment processors such as Stripe and PayPal. Your card or bank details go directly to the processor and are handled under its own privacy policy and security standards (PCI DSS). We keep a record of the transaction, amount and date for receipts and accounting.

If you ask to give anonymously, we will not display your name publicly, but we still keep your information internally as required for tax and financial records.

5. Cookies, analytics and embedded content

The Site uses cookies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, protect forms from spam (for example, CAPTCHA services) and understand how visitors use the Site (for example, Google Analytics). You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work.

Pages may include embedded content such as YouTube videos or social media posts. These providers may collect data about you under their own privacy policies.

6. How we share information

We share personal information only as needed:

  • Service providers who help us operate, such as web hosting, payment processing, email delivery, accounting and video meeting tools. They may use the data only to provide services to us.
  • Legal requirements, when required by law, court order or to protect the rights, safety or property of QMS USA or others.
  • With your consent, for any other purpose.

7. Retention and security

We keep personal information as long as needed for the purposes above and as required by law; donation records are generally kept for at least seven years for tax purposes. We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

8. Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your choices and rights

  • Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any message, or ask to be removed from WhatsApp or SMS lists.
  • Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, subject to records we must keep by law.
  • Residents of certain states may have additional rights under applicable law; we will honor verified requests as required.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it was last revised.
